I am a residency-trained medical doctor, a diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice, who have not gotten better from whatever treatment they have tried. People who come to see me have usually seen several specialists and a host of natural and other alternative practitioners. They either have chronic conditions, for which medicine only symptomatic treatments or unusual conditions, that have not been diagnosed yet. I combine conventional medicine with a host of alternative concepts and diagnostic procedures not yet embraced by mainstream medicine in order to expand people's diagnostic and therapeutic options. I also place a heavy emphasis on the symbolic meanings of a person's health issues. I try to rationally apply the benefits of prescriptions, herbs, homeopathics, nutrients, energetics, clinical hypnosis and a form of body work known as Cranio Sacral Therapy. It was to this milieu that I added noni in October of 1996. Before that time, people had been getting fairly good results with what I'd been doing for a wide range of conditions such as autoimmune diseases, allergic diseases, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, immune dysfunctions, hormonal imbalances, etc. but since the introduction of noni, hundreds of my patients have experienced improvements beyond anything they've had before.
I'd like to share what I've learned about how to use noni clinically in different situations. The first thing many people experience is improved energy. Some experience a decreased need for sleep, others improved quality and effectiveness of sleep. Noni has been very helpful in mood disorders. Many of my patients have been able to decrease or stop their selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and do quite well. Noni normalizes the function of cell-wall receptors so many of the people in my practice with type 2 diabetes mellitus don't have it any more. That's right. Noni doesn't just lower blood sugar in these people, it gives their bodies back the ability to regulate glucose normally. I expect that over the years this will be shown to greatly decrease the long-term health effects of diabetes.
For hormonal imbalances, the Noni has been a great help. It powerfully ameliorates the symptoms of PMS even to the point where many severely affected women feel normal now. It also helps normalize heavy, painful and/or irregular periods. Noni doesn't take away hot flashes, in my experience, but it greatly reduces the severity of other menopausal symptoms.
In the area of musculoskeletal disorders, Noni really shines. It greatly decreases inflammation and muscle spasm, it decreases or abolishes neurogenic pains such as sciatica and has helped dozens of my patients with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
Most people can take two to three ounces in one dose without difficulty. For higher doses I usually recommend splitting it in the morning and evening. My experience has shown that some people will get rapid and seemingly miraculous response, but in general, about 25% of people respond within the first three weeks. Another 50% respond by six to eight weeks and all those who will respond usually do so by three months, slower as I said, with people with CFIS, MCS and fibromyalgia. My back spasms did not ease up until I was half way through my second bottle.
If you are going to try noni for a chronic and/or serious health condition, please commit to three months and be willing to increase your dose. Stress, eating poorly, missing sleep, alcohol or other substances that preoccupy the liver may increase the need for noni.
